We assess your proficiency in Writing, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. We give you a Band Score in each of these four skills. This assessment is important because it makes you aware of your strengths (i.e. the skills where you performing well), and your weaknesses (i.e. the skills where you need to improve).
After making you aware of where you stand right now (i.e. what your Band Score in Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Speaking is), we discuss with you where you want to go (i.e. what you need to score in each skill). This comparison will help you identify gaps in your knowledge.
Once you know where you are right now (i.e. your current IELTS Band Score) and where you want to go (i.e. the Band Score you need), we discuss HOW you can go there. Depending on your individual needs, we focus on the areas where you need to improve and show you what you can do to improve your listening, and/or reading, and/or writing, and/or speaking skills.
A strategy-based approach to teaching IELTS takes at its focus the concept of learner independence. During each class, we show you how you can complete different listening and reading exercises, how to write a thesis statement, topic sentence, coherent body paragraphs, as well as how to answer IELTS Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 Interview Questions. You practice the strategies at home and see how the strategies are working for you. If you believe a certain strategy is not helping you enough, you discuss this with the teacher and together you find another way that works for you. The strategy-based approach places the emphasis on students finding out which strategies are effective for them and in which situations.
